Dream Home

Just this week someone said to me “everything possible has been done to allow you to stay in your dream home.” The funny thing about that statement is for those on the outside looking in it would appear to be -mission accomplished.

Multiple bathrooms- I have it!

An amazing view with awesome deck- I have it!

A great kitchen- I have it!

A master suite- I have it!

Room to entertain- I have it!

Multiple fireplaces- I have it!

My “Dream Home” – I DON’T have it!!!!

A “Dream Home” to me is-

A place you can’t wait to return to

A place where someone greats you with love and concern

A place where someone can’t wait to hear about your day

Somewhere you are free to be you and you don’t have to pretend

Somewhere that you feel loved, protected and safe

This somewhere does not have to be big or fancy, it can be plain and simple and tiny.

Don’t get me wrong I love to decorate, and I am blessed to have my house but over the past year I have learned that isn’t what makes a house a home. Having all you ever wanted in a house doesn’t make it your dream home- having someone to share it with does. Having your dream home is really a priceless gift that doesn’t depend upon your house.

I can honestly say if I am ever really given the opportunity to have my “dream home” I will not take it for granted. Everyone, you should enjoy your home if you are blessed with someone to share it with. Whether you realize it or not it is “your dream home” and you are very lucky.
